Support Our Troops

September 26th 2009 - 9:51 am

Each day we take for granted the awesome country in which we live, and the tremendous freedoms we are afforded. Too often we fail to realize that young men and women are dying everyday to protect those freedoms. These proud military members have volunteered to support the ideals that this country was founded on and each one of them should be viewed as a hero. America is a great and beautiful country that we should take pride in. Feelings of patriotism arise in every American, now more than ever. We have troops fighting overseas for our freedom and independence; those troops include dads, brothers, sisters, sons, and friends. They are serving with pride and honor, and they turn to us for support.  The feeling of excitement you get when a loved one returns from war, is a feeling unlike any other. There are no words to explain the pure joy and happiness you feel to have them back. They also have feelings that are difficult to express, the pride, honor and sense of accomplishment they feel is truly a life altering experience. Our war heroes and troops are often recognized by a prestigious military medal or military ribbon. Military medals or military ribbons can be displayed in your home; symbolizing the honor you have for our troops and loved ones who have fought for the freedom of the United States.  The bravery it takes to enroll in our United States armed forces is an admirable trait to start out with. Any person who makes the choice to serve our country and protect the rights of our citizens is a hero and should be recognized as one.  Support our troops. They are sacrificing everything for the freedom of this and future generations to come. Display any military medals or military ribbons loved ones have been awarded. By displaying these bright, gleaming tokens of valor, you not only support all those troops fighting overseas, but you also show that you honor those brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for all of us. Military awards are a symbol of many different traits from bravery to honor and should be passed down through generations as a commemoration of our United States Armed Forces.

The Aerial Achievement Medal was created in 1988 and awarded in the name of the Secretary of the Air Force, and is designed to recognize sustained meritorious achievement of aircrew members whose actions in flight might not qualify for the Air Medal.  These Air Force medals are recommended by local commanders, but must be approved by a major Air Force Command. The Aerial Achievement Medal is awarded to aircrew members for meritorious service over the course of 20 separate flights of at least 2 hours duration.  It ranks just below the Air Medal and just above the Commendation Medals in the order of precedence for military medals.  Subsequent awards are made with Oak Leaf Clusters. The Aerial Achievement Medal may be approved by local commanders, however the missions for which the decoration is authorized must be approved by a Major Air Force Command. The Aerial Achievement Medal is generally available as Air Force medals and ribbons and can be worn in the following forms:               a)  Full size military medals                          b)  Military mini medals              c)  Military ribbons (service ribbons)                        d)  Lapel pins   This medal, like most military medals, is available in the following styles:               a)  Traditional slide-on full size military medals or mini-medals, b)  Traditional slide-on military ribbons,             c)  Thin military medals, mini-medals or military ribbons.
