Medal

Distinguished Service Cross

The Distinguished Service Cross was developed by President Woordrow Wilson in the year 1918.  This military medal is one of the oldest and highest ranking of military awards authorized by the United States, standing as the second highest honor to receive.  This military honor is presented to Army service members recognized for extreme acts of heroism, not quite adding up to the Medal of Honor award.  It is an Army Award eligible to those who have served in this branch of service against a United States enemy, operations involving issues with a foreign source, and/or serving alongside friendly fire in which the United States is not a prime party.  The heroic operations recognized with this outstanding military medal are unique in that they required incredibly selfless acts of service.
